The furthest north I've made it so far is just past Denali (the town). I've got a rock from there, just because I thought I should have a little piece of something to commemorate my northiness Big Grin

I've never gone much further north than Healey (just north of Denali Park) but I can't wait to visit Fairbanks.  One of my goals is to travel the Dalton haul road and camp out along the way, visit the little communities and enjoy a glorious summer on the north slope.  Did you get to do much fishing when you were there?  I don't imagine you got into any salmon that far north.
Actually the salmon were running and were just hitting Fairbanks when we got back. We couldn't catch any while we were on our boat trip, but the Indian villages along the river were hauling them in with huge water wheels that scoop them up and throw them on the shore. Once we got back to Fairbanks we spent the last night fishing for Salmon and managed to catch a few.

I have a cousin that lives in Fairbanks.  A few years ago, my brothers and I flew up to stay with him. We pulled his boat all the way up to "Yukon Crossing" which is nearly all the way to the Artic Circle.  From there we powered 200 miles downstream and back.  It was about a 4 or 5 night trip.  We fished and camped and it was one of the most amazing trips of my life.  I'd love to do it again.

Man I only WISH I could compete in a dog sled race!  LOL, I live in Georgia of all places.  But I do go to Alaska almost every year and it is my goal to move there asap.  I love watching the Iditirod on the Versus network.
My kids all had a 2nd grade teacher that got them excited about following the Iditirod. So every few years I follow the race with them. Pretty amazing event. Also for the last couple of years there's been a race staged here in Park City.

Where in Alaska do you travel?
(Please reply on my page, so I'll see it)
